Rehnuma Awaz is built for people who rely on technology to read their most personal information: their messages, their money, their documents. We take that trust seriously. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why, how we protect it and what choices you have.

Who we are

Rehnuma Awaz is a text-to-speech engine for Urdu and English. It is developed by Centangle Interactive, funded by Ignite National Technology Fund and supported by the Ministry of IT & Telecom, Government of Pakistan. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the Rehnuma Awaz project, and "the Company" means Ignite National Technology Fund, which is responsible for it.

This policy covers the rehnumaawaz.com website and the Rehnuma Awaz software for Windows (NVDA add-on), Android, iPhone, iPad and Mac (together, "the Service").

The short version

• What you read stays yours. On Windows, the voices run on your own computer, and we never receive the text you have read aloud.
• We collect only what you choose to give us through our forms, plus basic technical information needed to run and secure the Service.
• We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
• You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, and to correct or delete it.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you use the forms on our website, we receive what you enter, together with the language of the page you used:

• Contact form: your name, email address and message, and, if you choose to give them, your phone number and city.
• Windows download form: shown the first time you download Rehnuma Awaz for Windows. It asks for your name and city, and an email address or phone number, and records the version you downloaded. This form is optional; you can skip it and download without giving any information.
• Email updates: your email address.

In the apps, if you choose to report a pronunciation mistake or share a crash report, we receive the words or technical details you send.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the website or use the Service, some technical information is recorded automatically, as it is by almost every online service: your device's IP address, browser or device type and version, operating system, the pages you visit, and the date and time and length of your visit. This is called usage data.

Information kept on your device

Our website stores one setting in your browser: whether you have completed or skipped the Windows download form, so that it is not shown again. If you use the website's display settings, your choices (text size, colours, contrast, Urdu typeface and motion) are stored in your browser too. None of this contains personal information, it never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use information

We use information only to:

• provide, maintain and improve the Service, and understand how it is used;
• reply to your messages and requests;
• understand who uses Rehnuma Awaz, so we can plan its development;
• send you news and new versions, only if you subscribed;
• keep the Service secure and prevent misuse;
• meet our legal obligations.

We may also use information to evaluate or carry out a merger, restructuring or transfer of the project, and in anonymous, aggregated form for analysis and reporting. We do not send marketing messages without the consent the law requires, and you can stop them at any time.

When we share information

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only:

• with service providers who host or operate parts of the Service for us, under obligations to protect it;
• with our partners in the project, who must honour this policy;
• if the project is transferred to another organisation, in which case we will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different policy;
• when the law requires it, for example in response to a valid request from a court or public authority, or to protect the rights, property or safety of users, the public or the Company;
• with your consent, for any other purpose.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, and we prefer shorter periods. Where we can, we delete it or make it anonymous sooner. Usage data, application statistics and server logs are kept for up to 24 months, for service improvement, security monitoring and troubleshooting. We may keep information longer only where the law requires it, to resolve a dispute or legal claim, or at your explicit request. Copies may remain briefly in encrypted backups until they are deleted on their normal schedule.

You can ask us at any time how long we will keep your information.

Where information is stored

Your information may be processed and stored on computers outside your province or country, where data protection laws may differ. Wherever it is, we take reasonable steps to protect it as this policy describes, and we transfer it only where adequate safeguards are in place.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete your information;
• stop sending you email updates.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep it as safe as we can.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. Where the law sets a higher age for consent, we may ask for a parent's or guardian's consent.

Other websites

Our website links to sites we do not run, such as Google Play, the App Store and social media. Their own privacy policies apply, and we encourage you to read them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page, update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know by email or a clear notice on the website before they take effect.
